From the Academy is a digital, quarterly publication grounded in the conviction that the renewal of higher education matters.
The magazine’s name is drawn from Russell Kirk’s famous National Review column, published from 1955 to 1980, in which he foresaw many of the negative trends that would come to dominate American academia.
Each issue features a curated series of essays, interviews, reviews, and briefs that engage the issue’s central question or theme. Alongside the Martin Center’s staff, From the Academy will showcase leading higher-education scholars and practitioners from across the country, providing a serious forum for addressing the most pressing issues in the sector.
As a nonpartisan publication, From the Academy seeks to publish writers from across the political spectrum who share a concern for the state of higher education and are willing to engage seriously with different paths toward academic renewal in America.
Finally, with a consistent editorial format, a distinctive voice, and carefully themed issues, From the Academy aims to attract reform-minded readers while grappling with the timely questions confronting higher education today.
